City of Owasso Animal Shelter Adoptions

"The purity of a person's heart can be quickly measured by how they regard animals" -Anonymous

The City of Owasso encourages everyone to consider adopting an animal from a shelter or reputable rescue organization.  Each week the animal shelter receives a wide variety of cats and dogs both stray and unwanted by their previous owners.  The reality is there are more animals than there are people to adopt them.  We believe every animal deserves a happy and long life.  Sadly, because of pet overpopulation many do not get that chance.  The Owasso Animal Shelter receives all breeds of dogs and cats, all deserving a second chance.  We strongly encourage everyone to spay and neuter their pets, not only because it is required by law, but to help reduce the tragedy of pet overpopulation.  We also encourage everyone to give a shelter/rescue dog or cat a second chance at a long and happy life.

You do not need to make an appointment to view our available animals.  You can either stop by the animal shelter during normal business hours (9 A.M. – 5 P.M. Monday – Saturday) to view the animals, or you can view the animals online: click here

We do suggest that you call the animal shelter first at 272-4965 to ensure that an officer is at the shelter, and not in the field.  Persons under the age of eighteen (18) must be accompanied by an adult.

If you see an animal you are interested in, there is an adoption application and approval process.  Once your application has been approved and the adoption fee has been paid, the animal will be scheduled for any vet services, including spaying or neutering.  The entire process my be completed as quickly as a few hours if the animal is ready, or may take up to 3-4 days depending on the veterinary schedule.  All adopted animals will be spayed or neutered before leaving the animal shelter.
